Buckhead electricity is handled by Georgia Power. Water and sewer services are handled by the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management. Residential trash pickup, yard-waste disposal, and recycling are conducted by the City of Atlanta’s Office of Solid Waste Services, and all are picked up on the regular trash pickup day. However, citizens must request a pickup for bulk rubbish by calling the Atlanta Customer Service Center at 404.330.6333. As per the City of Atlanta, procedures are as follows: Water Services - If you are a rental customer (you do not own the property where you reside), you will need the following to establish service:
- Completed Water Service application
- Notarized lease agreement from the owner
- A deposit (generally $80, but varies depending upon meter size) and an account establishment fee ($15).
- If you are a property owner (you purchased the property and have a settlement statement, warranty deed or security deed to show as proof), you will need the following to establish service:
- Completed Water Service application
- Proof of ownership (Settlement statement, warranty deed or security deed)
- A deposit (generally $80, but varies depending upon meter size) and an account establishment fee ($15)
Residential Trash Pickup New property owners can fax or mail a copy of their settlement statement to the Customer Service Division in order to obtain a garbage container ("Herbie Curbie"): 55 Trinity Avenue, Suite 4800 Atlanta, Georgia 30303-0326 Attention: Customer Service Division 404.330.6333 (office) 404.658.7704 (fax) Garbage collection occurs weekly. Herbie Curbies should be placed on curb by 7p.m. the previous day and removed from curb by 7 p.m. on collection day. Yard Waste (Trimmings): Place yard trimmings in an approved container such as a 32-gallon plastic container clearly marked "YARD TRIMMINGS", and place the container at the curb. A 32-gallon container can be obtained at minimal cost at home or hardware stores. Place yard trimmings in a special paper yard bag available from many stores for this purpose. Leave at the curbside for collection. PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Bulk Rubbish: Bulk Rubbish refers to materials whose total weight, volume and/or size are too large for the City’s residential garbage collection trucks.
